New clubs The Old Triangle, Aladdin open in Halifax .......excerpt....... The other new nightspot is in a location you don't usually think of for entertainment, but at the halfway point between Halifax and Bedford, Aladdin's Jazz and Blues Theatre in Rockingham should have no trouble drumming up crowds from both neighbourhoods. Aladdin's is the dream project of Corey Adams, whose dad and local jazz icon Bucky Adams ran his own place in the 60's, the notorious Club Unusual. Situated on the Bedford Highway across from the House of Mei Mei, Aladdin's will be a showcase for jazz and blues, both local and from away, as well as poetry and comedy. There's a bar and a kitchen, which will soon be dishing up choice Caribbean and soul food. This Friday and Saturday, Aladdin's features Corey and Bucky joined by bassist and crooner John Chiasson with Cuban pianist Sylvio Pupo, so strap on those cha cha heels.
